How to get to Rome

A practical guide for those wishing to reach Rome City from the Port of Civitavecchia. What kind of transportations to take?

The fastest, simple and safe method of transport to get Rome from Civitavecchia Port is certainly book a car with driver authorized to pick you up under the ship. With a nice drive of 1 hour and 20 minutes you will be in the heart of Rome.

As an alternative to the use of one of authorized taxi/limo drivers, once you get to the heart of the Port (the Service Centre of Largo della Pace), on board of a free shuttle bus, we suggest to go to Rome by train: you can reach the Civitavecchia Station on foot in 20 minutes, or by one of Argo bus in 6 minutes.

The main train station stops are:

1. San Pietro (St. Peter’s Basilica, the Vatican Museums and Castel Sant’Angelo),
2. Stazione Trastevere (Trastevere district, Campo de Fiori, Piazza Navona and Pantheon),
3. the Ostiense Station (Pyramid, the Coliseum, the Roman Forum)
4. and Termini station (the central station of Rome is the perfect place to head to the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain and Basilica of St. John Lateran).

The two metro lines A and B are the ideal method of transport for getting around Rome. Very useful are the 64 bus-line and tram 8, which allow you to easily reach the monuments and historical places of Rome such as the magnificent Piazza Navona and the Pantheon, the beautiful square of Campo de Fiori, and the enormous Piazza Venezia.
